By the sounds of it, when you type in 'dos' at LILO, it chainloads the MBR of the Windows NT partition, this partition contains some boot code, which basically locates and executes ntldr.
So, if that is the case, then the problem might be the boot code has been corrupted somehow... Either a Linux utility, or a Windows virus would do it. You should always back-up MBRs so that you can easily restore them in these such cases.

Hello !
Since several months now I am using a Pentium with two partitions running
both Linux and Windows NT 4.0.
Everything has been working perfectly until yesterday. And I do not
understand what has happened. As the familiar user knows, at the Lilo boot
you just need to write either "linux" or "dos" and you can choose one or
another operating system. What happens now is that when I write "dos" at
the lilo boot it appears a sentence saying that it cannot find the ntldr
file, and inmediately hangs.
I have tried for several times to restore the NT
sytem with the help of some diskettes, but it fails. I have also tried to
reinstall again with the help of these diskettes and it does not allow it.
I cannot reinstall with the help of the CDROM, since I cannot activate
nothing of the NT system. Entering Linux I can see that the file ntldr
exists. I frankly do not know what to do.
Any help will be kindly welcome !
