In XP, I could get a thumbnail of the first page of a PDF file (See it
as a picture).

Is this possible in Win 7. There is no "Thumbnails" in the View menu.
If possible is it done some other way?

If you don't get a good answer, try posting in alt.windows7.general. That's
a much busier group than this one.

I know how to display thumbnails, but I'm not sure if pdf's are included in
that and I can't check right now.

I don't have a Win7 machine handy, but on Win 8.1 in desktop mode, the
first page of PDFs are showing up when I choose View then Medium, Large
or Extra Large icons. (I have Adobe Acrobat installed if it makes a
difference). I know on some file types, such as Microsoft Visio, it's
an option in the application to save a thumbnail image in the file also.
