I keep getting a message that there is a new update for Windows. When I
look at details, it is for Windows XP. This computer has never had XP
on it. Bought it with Vista, updated to 7.

I decline to update, but I keep getting the message about the update to
XP. What can I do to eliminate this?

When I decline a Windows update, I'm presented with a dialog box
asking if I'd like to hide this update or get asked later. If I choose
to hide it I never see it again, unless I choose to display hidden
updates. I take it you don't get a similar dialog?

Second, if you post the details of the update, maybe someone else will
recognize it. At a minimum, it will give a starting point for some
research, which I presume you've already begun.
