Intellipoint question please

I use a Microsoft mouse and have MS Intellipoint installed on my computer (I think so anyway). Two questions please. Do I really need Intellipoint or can I uninstall it. The reason I ask is that I have a program that gives me an error message when it starts up that Intellipoint is running and conflicting with it and I should uninstall it. My problem with that is that I can't find the program anywhere. It is not listed in the Uninstall or Change Programs section of Windows neither is Microsoft Intellipoint. I even did a search on my whole computer for any file containing Intellipoint in it's name and all it came up with was intellipoint.jpg. So I guess my question is: Is it okay to uninstall Intellipoint and if so how?

You shouldn't need it. I had a Microsoft Intellipoint mouse until
recently (when my cat chewed through the cord a few weeks ago) with
Windows 8.1 and didn't use any special software.

The most common way to find things starting like that is by going to
Start then Run and type "msconfig" and look through there.
