I contacted NOAA to get information on their work regarding regional
impacts due to projected climate change. They were very helpful. I
obtained two main documents (and several of less importance). The main
document is the full report of the group's work.
This is a 196 page report in pdf format. I am reading it on on my
computer now. I could mail a copy to each of the group, or to one of
the staff members only. Any suggestions- does anyone want a copy?
The second document is a powerpoint presentation summary of the report
(23 slides). I could go through this at a future meeting if I could
either obtain transparencies and the use of a Viewgraph projector at
that meeting, or the use of a projector to attach to my laptop (drivers
needed).
Turns out the term for what I was talking about is "adaption", learning
to live with the results of global warming, as opposed to "mitigation",
trying to prevent same.
Of course, I also want to give, at a future meeting, a presentation of
my own on basics of greenhouse warming. But for now, I would suggest I
present this regional impact summary presentation, and send copies of
the report to any interested in seeing the whole thing.
BTW, the impact is certainly not very bad for our region. Counter to
what I had seen from other, less detailed estimates, this region would
not be dryer- rather, we would see an increase in rainfall :-)
